Worms

I went to worms on first day of CNY. Worms is a small city located in south-west of germany. The name of this city sounds wierd and funny in english. In fact,it sounded interesting to me, not tt i expect to see any worms crawling on the streets. But try pronouncing it in the german way, (vorms). Every city i go, i try to take a pic of the map, so here it is!

Every attraction could be reached within walking distance. The first place i went to was the Jew's street. I heard from my mum that Jews are the most intelligent people around, good at business. And tt is why they're also rich people! Over here you see the back of the building of the Jewish Quarters. It was destructed in 1938/41 and reconstructed in 1961. It was first built in 1034 (if i'm not wrong) haha.

Mikwe Ritualbad simply indicates the place where Jews conduct their ritual baths. Constructed in 1185/86. Following pictures show the stairs leading don towards what you see a squared space boxed up by walls on 3 sides with the last side being the entrance into the "pool"

Male visitors are required to put on a "Kippa" when they enter into the synagogue.

Inside the synagogue

This is a list of victims from the Jewish community of Worms.
An explanatory notice writing that all victims of  WW2 will always be remembered.

This is the town wall which is well preserved in large parts.

A monastry i saw along the way.

Market Fountain or "Fountain of Justice". It was errected in 1778 to provide for water supply. left figure: neptune Right figure: Hercules and Middle: Justice
Romanesque Facade. Remains of a large town house dating back to 13th C.

Church of the Holy Trinity (Dreifaltigkeitskirche). Most of their churches are open for visitors to pop in. Again, its chapel style and it feels really peaceful to be inside.

Not to forget, the Imperial cathedral of St. peter. look at the achitecture. Wonderful work! Wonder how long it took them to construct =)
